More than 80% of patients return home following rehabilitation at The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis.

In an interview with KSDK, Dr. Prateek Grover, medical director at The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis, shares about the goals of inpatient rehabilitation and how the hospital is helping individuals return to their normal lives.  “People who have acute events, like stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, or limb loss, they need to be able to go back home. In order to go back home, they need to learn how to be independent. We help them by monitoring their medical conditions, making sure they are medically stable and helping them learn how to do these daily activities so they can go back home,” Dr. Grover said.

The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis has five specialty certifications from The Joint Commission in treating patients with wounds, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputees and stroke. The hospital treats more than 2,500 patients each year, and more than 80% of patients are able to return home.
