 Sheril Appel
Sheril Appel

CEO

With more than 20 years of healthcare experience, Sheril returned to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington in 2014 as the chief executive officer. She earned her master’s degree in communication disorders from University of Houston and her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in education from Tulane University. Sheril is a clinician by trade, having worked in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors of healthcare. She has served as a healthcare provider and an administrator.  From speech language pathologist to CEO, her passion now lies in healthcare leadership and business operations. Her broad scope of accomplishments include proven leadership in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings. Sheril has a dynamic understanding of acute care, long term care, skilled nursing, and physician practice management.

 Mark Bussell, M.D.
Mark Bussell, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Bussell has been affiliated with HealthSouth City View since 1994. He earned a medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed an internship at the Swedish Covenant Hospital and a residency at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago-McGaw Medical Center. Dr. Bussell is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and is a member of American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Texas Medical Association, Tarrant County Medical Society and American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine.

Lee Clark

Director of Plant Operations

Lee has more than 20 years healthcare facility management experience with 10 years of that time being at HealthSouth Arlington. He has also served as the representative for all the region’s specialty hospitals in disaster preparedness.

Katherine Dickerson
Katherine Dickerson

Chief Financial Officer/Controller

Katherine joined the team as chief financial officer in June 2008. She is a certified public accountant and has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Southwestern Adventist University. Katherine has nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare finance and administration.

LaWana Dyer
LaWana Dyer

Director of Quality and Risk

LaWana serves as the director of quality and risk management, a role in which she partners with the hospital care team to implement a culture of regulatory preparedness and patient safety in a mission to exceed the expectations and needs of patients and their families. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Northwestern State University and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. LaWana is a Six Sigma Green Belt with more than 10 years of hospital and primary care experience as a project manager, data analyst and performance improvement professional. In addition, she is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Society for Quality.

Jennifer Hinds
Jennifer Hinds

Director of Therapy Operations

Jennifer serves as director of therapy operations at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington. Prior to joining the HealthSouth team, she was a multi-site director of rehabilitation for Peoplefirst Rehab, which is a division of Kindred Healthcare. Before moving to Texas, Jennifer worked as an occupational therapist at Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton, Oklahoma on both their rehabilitation and behavioral health units. She graduated from Cameron University in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in biology and then from Texas Woman’s University in 2001 with a master's degree in occupational therapy.

Carolyn Kiles
Carolyn Kiles

Director of Pharmacy

Carolyn serves as the director of pharmacy and oversees the safe, effective and accurate use of medications in our hospital. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and has been with HealthSouth since 2000. Carolyn has more than 25 years of hospital and long-term care pharmacy experience as a clinician, consultant, manager, educator, regulator and author.

Omolayo Orekoya, RN CRRN
Omolayo Orekoya, RN CRRN

Chief Nursing Officer

Layo joined HealthSouth Arlington in early 2017 as the chief nursing officer. She is extremely passionate about excellence in nursing practices and delivering quality patient care. Layo is a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) and received her nursing education from the University of Texas at Arlington. She comes to HealthSouth Arlington with more than 10 years of management and nursing experience.

Laura Pletcher
Laura Pletcher

Director of Case Management

Laura serves as the director of case management at HealthSouth Arlington after working as a case manager there for five years. She earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Texas Christian University and a master's degree in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Laura is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Certified Case Manager (CCM). Overall, Laura has more than 15 years of case management experience and is a steadfast advocate for patients and families.

Director of Human Resources

Nancy began working for HealthSouth in November 1999 and has more than 20 years working experience in the human resources field. Nancy has lived in Arlington all her life and has two children and two grandchildren.
