At Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Phenix City and serving Columbus, Georgia, and Auburn, Alabama areas we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, brain injury, hip fracture and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Lora Davis was named chief executive officer of Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in July 2018 bringing more than 20 years’ healthcare leadership experience in long term acute care and non-profit acute care settings to the role. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business administration from Georgia College and State University. In addition, she is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Dr. Daryl Ellis has been the medical director at Regional Rehabilitation Hospital since June 2018. He received his medical degree from the University of California San Diego and did his internship in internal medicine at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. He completed residencies from both Albany Medical Center and Columbus Regional Medical Center. Since completing his education, he has been practicing medicine in Phenix City, AL and Columbus, GA. He has staff privileges at all area hospitals and additionally he is on staff with several area universities as an associate professor.
Business Development Director
Erin has been with the Regional Rehabilitation team since joining in 2003, just after the hospital opened. She brings more than 17 years of healthcare experience with her, ranging from case management, social work and marketing. She has a bachelor’s degree in health science, specializing in rehabilitation services.
Human Resources Director
Cindy has been employed with Regional Rehabilitation Hospital since September 2007 as the director of human resources. She has more than 24 years experience in the human resources profession, with more than 12 of those years working in healthcare. Cindy received her master’s degree in human resources management in 2000, and received her bachelor’s degree in biology and physical science from Troy State University. She is a member of the Columbus, Georgia SHRM chapter, and is also a national SHRM member.
Director of Quality and Risk
Stacey joined Regional Rehabilitation Hospital when it opened 2003, and became the director of quality and risk management in 2006. She brings more than 18 years of healthcare experience to Regional Rehabilitation Hospital. Stacey is from the Columbus/Phenix City area where she graduated from Columbus State University with a degree in respiratory therapy.
Director of Therapy
Walter Johnson serves as director of therapy operations at Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, and has practiced as a licensed physical therapist for more than 22 years with focused practice in neurology, geriatrics and orthopedics. He graduated in 1995 from the physical therapy program at the Medical College of Georgia, where he served as class president. He has worked in acute care hospitals, outpatient facilities, home health agencies, skilled nursing facilities and inpatient acute rehabilitation hospitals in the Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama markets. Walter has extensive continuing education training in the areas of geriatric, orthopedic, neurologic and vestibular physical therapy. His management experience includes senior therapist and then regional therapy director of a home health agency for four years. Most recently Walter severed as therapy manager for five years at Regional Rehabilitation Hospital.
Director of Pharmacy
Joe joined the Regional Rehabilitation Hospital team in 2017 as the director of pharmacy. He has more than 30 years of experience as a pharmacist. He has managed both retail and acute care hospital pharmacies, and is experienced in pharmacy operations, clinical pharmacy practice, and pharmacy informatics. He graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy and a doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Florida. Joe has retail pharmacy experience as a pharmacy manager and hospital experience in numerous positions including clinical coordinator, pharmacy information systems coordinator, and pharmacy manager. He is also LEAN certified and serves as a preceptor for Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy students.
Director of Case Management
Amy McTier joined Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in March 2016 and has more than 20 years of experience in case management in an acute care setting. She completed her undergraduate degree in social work from Auburn University and received her MBA from Auburn University at Montgomery. She serves as the treasurer for Alabama Society of Health Care Social Workers.
Susan joined Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in 2019. Her prior experience includes 12 years in healthcare including serving as controller for a 300+ bed acute care facility, chief financial officer for a federally qualified health center and chief financial officer for a critical access hospital. Susan has also worked in a leadership role for a consulting firm specializing in audit and assurance services for healthcare clients. She is a CPA and graduated from the University of Georgia with a BBA in accounting.
Chief Nursing Officer
Jill joined Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in January of 2019 as the chief nursing officer. She has 25 years of nursing experience throughout the healthcare continuum in clinical, as well as management positions. She began her career as an orthopedic nurse and obtained her board certification in orthopedic nursing early on. Most recently, her focus has shifted to patient safety, quality, facility operations and patient satisfaction as she managed a large, multi-specialty hospital based medical group. Jill is passionate about the patient experience and has trained hundreds of employees on the importance of fostering a culture of compassion and collaboration with the patients and their families.
