On March 17, HealthSouth Valley of the Sun Rehabilitation Hospital held its 3rd Annual Amputee Running Clinic. Each year, the clinic inspires people like Star Strahan, a park ranger who experienced limb loss at age 12 due to bone cancer, to run for the first time in 27 years. “You set your own limits,” says Star. Amputees of all ages attended the clinic to practice running and receive support from others who have experienced limb loss.
HealthSouth Valley of the Sun Rehabilitation Hospital will host their third annual amputee running clinic on March 17 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Grand Canyon University. Former patient David Hochstadt, who underwent an amputation after a motorcycle accident, discusses his plans to participate in the run while clinic organizer and Physical Therapist Assistant Lonnie Coughran explains the benefits.
To help drivers find a better “fit” with their cars for comfort and safety, mobility experts are hosting a safety program designed to help older drivers and their families on Wednesday, Feb. 7 from 1- 4 p.m. at HealthSouth Valley of the Sun Rehabilitation Hospital.
