PELHAM, Ala. – Robert Russell has been named chief executive officer of HealthSouth’s future inpatient rehabilitation hospital located at 900 Oak Mountain Commons Lane in Pelham. He assumed the position on Sept. 11.
As CEO, he will oversee all of the day-to-day operations as well as patient quality and care for the future physical inpatient rehabilitation hospital. A seasoned healthcare leader and a respiratory therapist by background, Russell brings more than 20 years of operational leadership experience to his new role. He earned a master’s degree in business administration from Georgia University in addition to a bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy from Biosystems Institute.
“Robert’s experience working as a respiratory therapist and as a leader in the healthcare industry establishes a strong foundation for the team at our future hospital,” said Terry Brown, vice president of the southeast region for HealthSouth. “Under Robert’s leadership, we look forward to opening the doors to our beautiful, new hospital in the spring and providing much needed rehabilitation services to those in the surrounding communities.”
The future 34-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital will provide comprehensive rehabilitation services and higher medical management, including dialysis, for patients recovering from stroke and other neurological disorders, hip fractures, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, complex orthopedic conditions. The hospital, HealthSouth’s seventh hospital location in Alabama, will open to patients in spring 2018.
