Patient walks out of rehabilitation after losing function due to COVID-19

“I’ll never forget the first day I took my first steps,” said Anthony Tyler. Tyler, who spent one month in the hospital on a ventilator after contracting COVID-19, couldn’t remember the ambulance ride or his stay in the acute hospital where he was treated for the virus. However, he can remember his three-month stay at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama, where he was transferred to regain strength and function. Tyler came to the hospital unable to move his arms and could barely move his legs. He impressed everyone when he walked out of the hospital to return home. Hear from Tyler, one of his therapy team members and hospital Medical Director Dr. Keith Andrews in this WAAY news clip.
