Rick Lowe named CEO of future Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming

Rick LoweCUMMING, Ga., Feb. 1, 2021 – Rick Lowe has been named CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming, Encompass Health’s future inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Cumming, Georgia. The 50-bed hospital, which is under construction at 1165 Sanders Road, is expected to begin caring for patients in June 2021.

As CEO, Lowe is responsible for overseeing the future hospital’s day-to-day operations as well as patient care and quality. The hospital will provide 24-hour nursing care and physical, occupational and speech therapies to patients recovering from major illnesses and injuries including strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions.

Most recently, Lowe, who brings more than 40 years of hospital operations and facility management experience to the role, served as a market CEO of two specialty hospitals in the Atlanta area. Prior to that, he held the role of senior vice president and chief administrative officer for a 436-bed hospital in Columbus. Lowe holds a master’s degree in healthcare management from Troy University, a bachelor’s degree in construction from the University of North Florida and an associate degree in pre‑med/engineering from Alice Lloyd College.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming will be Encompass Health’s fourth inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Georgia and its 140th inpatient rehabilitation hospital in the U.S. Encompass Health currently operates inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in Augusta, Newnan and Savannah and has an additional hospital under construction in Stockbridge.
