37-year-old pastor undergoes double-lung transplant and rehabilitation after contracting COVID-19

Zach Lloyd originally thought he had a sinus infection in October of 2020, but it turned out to be COVID-19. The virus landed him in the hospital for 175 days, where he underwent a double-lung transplant to save his life. With a mission of returning home to East Tennessee in time for his daughter’s birthday in July, the 37-year-old pastor powered through rehabilitation at Vanderbilt-Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital in Nashville to relearn how to breathe independently and use his legs again.
