Located in Aldie, we serve the greater Washington, D.C. area and northern Virginia as a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, brain injury and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Matt brings more than 15 years of healthcare leadership experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia. He has previously served in several CEO roles of long term acute care hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia, Kansas City, Missouri, and Nashville, Tennessee. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Southern Methodist University and holds three master's degrees in health administration, business administration and healthcare Informatics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Medical Director
Dr. Samdani was appointed as medical director at Encompass Health Northern Virginia, formerly HealthSouth, in 2011 and opened a private practice at the same location. His philosophy of service to the patient along with the support of a great rehabilitation team creates excellence in both patient care and outcomes. In 2005, Dr. Samdani started working as medical director of the inpatient rehabilitation facility at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Samdani is a board certified physiatrist. He graduated from Kurnool Medical College, India, in 1988 in the top ten of his class. Dr. Samdani has completed a general surgery residence and received a master's degree in surgery. He moved to the United States in 1998 and worked as a house staff (PGY-1) in Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He enrolled in the physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program at the SUNY at Stony Brook University in New York. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Medical Society of State of New York and Richmond Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Samdani is an independent private practice physician.
Controller
George has more than 30 years of experience in accounting, primarily as a controller for various government contractors. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, a MBA degree from Babson College and is a certified public accountant.
Director of Case Management
Stephany joined Encompass Health as a case manager in December of 2019. Stephany’s clinical background includes a master's degree in nursing and business administration from Western Governors University. She has been a registered nurse for over seven years and has been working in healthcare for 14 years. She is certified in case management and finds fulfillment in working with other members of the team to secure continuity of care. She values her role in helping patients get the best care possible throughout their recovery period.
Human Resources Director
Andrew comes to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia with more than 20 years of experience in the human resources field, both in the for-profit and non-profit sectors, specifically in manufacturing and biomedical research. Originally from the UK, Andrew has lived and worked in the Northern Virginia area since 2004, and also has experience of working in Germany, Austria, China and Canada. He speaks German and French, and obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in german studies.

Director of Therapy Operations
Vidhya joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in June 2010 when the hospital opened and served in various positions. After serving as a manager, she was promoted as director of therapy operations. Vidhya’s clinical background includes a doctorate degree in physical therapy from Shenandoah University and more than 16 years of experience as a physical therapist. She is certified in neuro-developmental techniques, utilized in treating brain related impairments. She takes pride in leading a team of exceptional therapists who strive for excellence while focusing on restoring function and promoting safety through evidence-based practice. Vidhya is an avid gardener and a mother of two boys.
Plant Operations Director
Tom joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia after 22 years in multiple locations for different companies which include State of Wisconsin buildings and grounds support, Cornerstone Hospital plant operations director and Goodwin House plant operations director. Tom has been with Encompass Health for 5 years in two locations, Encompass Health Northern Virginia and Encompass Health Petersburg. Tom takes his responsibility for the safety of the staff, patients and visitors seriously, while ensuring the facility is operating smoothly to provide a safe and comfortable environment. In his role, he also ensures the life safety components of the facility are operational and compliant.
Director Health Information Management
Gabe joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in May of 2012 as a rehab therapy tech. In 2016, he transitioned to the role of supervisor of health information management after receiving a master’s degree in health informatics administration. In 2018, he obtained an RHIA certification and in 2019, transitioned to the role of director of health information management and hospital HIPAA officer where he is responsible for the privacy and security of protected health information. Gabe also serves as the President of the District of Columbia Health Information Management Association (DCHIMA) where he helps to serve HIM professional in the DMV area.

Joseph joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia, formerly HealthSouth, in 2013 as part of nursing administration. In 2015, he transitioned to the role of director of quality and risk management, where he was responsible for maintaining accreditation readiness, facilitation of performance improvement programs, monitoring quality outcomes and addressing patient concerns. As the head of the nursing department, Joseph’s daily focus is to ensure that every patient at Encompass Health Northern Virginia has a positive and memorable nursing experience. Joseph holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing; master’s degrees in health and business administration, and the achievement of being a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse.
