Johnny Bellew

Director of Marketing Operations

Johnny joined the HealthSouth Humble location in January 2017 bringing 15 years’ healthcare experience. He has been with the HealthSouth network since 2014 working with multiple hospitals during his tenure. He has held positions advocating for quality of care and life at state and national levels and has served on advisory boards for Healthcare Pathways education programs at community colleges. As director of marketing, Johnny leads the marketing team in bringing awareness to the community, educating area healthcare providers on the scope of care and specialized programs, and advocating for patients to ensure their maximize outcome and recovery.

Debbie Walle

Director of Therapy Operations

Debbie brings twelve years of experience to the role of director of therapy operations. She joined HealthSouth in 1999 and achieved multiple leadership roles. Debbie has additional experience working in The Texas Medical Center and with Seton Medical Hospital Hayes. A graduate of Texas Woman's University with a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy, she now works to foster an environment of caring dedication to patients seeking rehabilitative care.

Christy Dixon

Human Resources Director

Christy brings more than 15 years of human resources experience to the leadership team at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Humble. She has an extensive background in human resource management with an expertise in employee relations. Christy has been a member of the HealthSouth team since 2007.

Christie Griffin

Chief Nursing Officer

Christie comes to HealthSouth Humble with more than fifteen years of experience in healthcare. She holds a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree in business administration with a specialization in health care management. Christie is a Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ) and she is a trained Texas examiner with in-depth knowledge and experience with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Criteria. As chief nursing officer for HealthSouth Humble, she utilizes her transformational leadership skills to influence the hospital’s strategic direction and ensures that nursing’s goals and initiatives are aligned to advance organizational success. Christie has also held other clinical and administrative leadership positions in acute care settings within the Texas Medical Center (TMC). She is currently an active member of the National Association of Healthcare Quality where she has served on the education planning committee and Texas Gulf Coast Association for Healthcare Quality, serving on the board as the nurse planner.

Leroy Harrison

Director of Plant Operations

Leroy, a Hawaii native, joined HealthSouth in December 1989 and has served in the plant operations department for 22 years. He has the distinguished experience of serving the US Navy. Leroy is a former student of both North Shore and New Caney and studied AC&R within the North Harris Community College System.

Emile Mathurin

Medical Director

Dr. Mathurin brings more than 20 years of experience to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Humble. He received his education at the Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez; SUNY Health Center at Brooklyn, New York; Columbia University – Harlem Hospital and Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, New Jersey. Dr. Mathurin is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Emile Mathurin, Jr., MD is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.

Lisa Parks

Director of Quality and Risk

Lisa brings ten years of HealthSouth clinical liaison experience to the role of director of quality and risk management. In addition to her many accomplishments with HealthSouth, Lisa also brings the discipline and attention to detail gained from twenty one years of service in The United States Army, finishing that career as sergeant first class. Lisa has experience in ICU and trauma medicine as well as a successful record in leadership roles. It is with this combination of experience and dedication to patients and staff education, that Lisa looks forward to continuous improvements in patient care and quality.

Angie Simmons

Chief Executive Officer

Angie brings more than 15 years of healthcare experience to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Humble. She has been with HealthSouth since 1997 and with HealthSouth in Humble since 2006. A Texas native, Angie is a graduate of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy.

Shelia Taylor-Shepard


Sheila has been with HealthSouth since 2000 and with HealthSouth in Humble since 2010. She brings more than 10 years of hospital accounting experience. Sheila earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from University of Phoenix.

Curtis Traylor

Director of Pharmacy

Curtis has been with HealthSouth since 1990 and brings more than 30 years experience in pharmacy. Throughout his career he has enjoyed various awards and recognitions from institutions such as Texas Southern University, Humble Independent School District and Veterans Administration Hospital to name a few. He is very active with various pharmacy industry associations and leadership programs.

Sharon Waxley

Director of Case Management

Sharon brings more than 20 years of experience to the case management department at HealthSouth. She has a diverse background in case management with director level experience in dialysis and Medicare Advantage insurance plans. Sharon is a registered nurse with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas.
