This week, Encompass Health of Modesto celebrates five years of providing innovative rehabilitation services to the Modesto community and beyond. As the area continues to grow and the need for rehabilitation services continues to expand, we have the opportunity – and the responsibility – to continue providing high quality care close to home and identifying new ways to connect with the communities we serve.

As we reflect on the past five years, we celebrate successes and growth made possible through hard work and dedication from our hospital leadership, providers, therapy teams, partners and the local community. Encompass Health opened its doors to patients on October 20, 2016, as a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital and the only freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital in the area.

Mostly importantly, over the span of the past five years Encompass Health has discharged nearly 4,000 patients back to their local communities in Modesto and the surrounding areas with more independence and the ability to continue doing the daily activities they love, like fishing in nearby lakes and rivers, attending events at the Gallo Center for the Arts, and visiting other areas in the region, such as San Francisco, Napa Wine Country, Redwood National Park, and Yosemite National Park. Our care teams have provided rehabilitative care to patients recovering from strokes, amputations, and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions. Additionally, over the past 20 months, our hospital has cared for a number of patients recovering from COVID-19, many with inspiring stories of recovery.

Encompass Health of Modesto is able to reach more people and change more lives because of the local relationships and referrals from nearby acute care hospitals in Stanislaus County, as well as regular patient referrals from San Francisco, Sacramento, and Merced.
