Rick Hundorfean named CEO of MUSC Health Medical University of South Carolina Rehabilitation Hospital

Richard HundorfeanCHARLESTON, S.C., Nov. 3, 2021–Rick Hundorfean has been appointed as chief executive officer of MUSC Health Medical University of South Carolina Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health. In his position as CEO, Hundorfean will oversee all of the day-to-day operations, as well as patient care and quality, at the 49-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 9181 Medcom St., North Charleston. He assumed the position on Oct. 11.

Hundorfean most recently served as CEO of University Hospitals Rehabilitation Hospital in Beachwood, Ohio. In this role, he was responsible for hospital operations, including managing patient outcomes, recruiting and developing hospital leadership, and establishing a positive work culture. He previously served as administrative director of Neurological, Spine & Pain Management Institutes, where he was responsible for all clinical and nonclinical operations for 45 sites of care, and he held multiple leadership roles at Cleveland Clinic for more than nine years. His career highlights include leading change management initiatives, supply chain management and financial oversight for multiple institutions, leading to significant financial gains. He has also led key initiatives for reputation management and employee engagement in multiple leadership roles.

Hundorfean completed his bachelor’s degree in industrial manufacturing and systems engineering at Ohio University and his Master of Business Administration at Baldwin Wallace University.
