PHOENIX, Ariz., July 19, 2022 – Mark Roth has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Valley of The Sun Rehabilitation Hospital. In his position as CEO, Roth oversees all day-to-day operations, as well as patient care and quality, at the 75-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital located at 13460 North 67^th Avenue in Glendale, Arizona. He assumed the position in April 2022.

Most recently, Roth served as divisional chief financial officer at Ernest Health in Prescott Valley, Arizona. In this role, he oversaw financial operations of 28 inpatient rehabilitation and long-term care facilities and managed business and accounting operations. He previously served as chief financial officer and chief operating officer at Ernest Health’s Mountain Valley Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, in which he was responsible for a number of departments, including business, pharmacy, plant operations, patient outcomes, home health, accounts payable and payroll. Roth also developed key performance indicators across hospital departments that improved patient satisfaction and maximized profitability.  Before this role, Roth held the title of president and owner of BrightStar Care of Phoenix, where he built and led a state-licensed joint commission-certified home health agency in Phoenix, Arizona. Previously, Roth served in leadership roles across a variety of industries, including finance, sales, and software development.  He began his career as a senior project manager at Charles Schwab & Co.  Roth then held various leadership positions in operations and sales before emerging into the healthcare industry.

Roth previously completed Ernest Health’s 12-month CEO in Training Program and was awarded ‘Most Efficient Hospital Operator’ for three of the last five years within the 28-hospital system. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix.
