Abigail Doberstein, PT, DPT
Bio
Abigail Doberstein is a therapy manager and physical therapist at Encompass Health Nittany Valley in Pennsylvania. She has been a PT for 13 years, serving in various settings, but her heart has always been in inpatient rehabilitation.
She started her career with Encompass Health more than a decade ago at the Encompass Health location in San Antonio, Texas. Doberstein transferred to Nittany Valley seven years ago to be closer to family. She started as a staff PT, worked to become a senior PT team lead and now is the inpatient therapy manager overseeing the hospital’s physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology departments.
Doberstein has always been passionate about understanding the intricacies of the human body, going back to memories of stealing her mother’s nursing textbooks when she was 6 years old to “help” her study pictures of the human spine.
She now embraces her role as a human movement systems expert and continually aspires to be a skilled clinician and leader in neurorehabilitation.
Education
Doberstein received her undergraduate degree and doctorate in physical therapy from Arcadia University. In less than five years of clinical practice, she was motivated to achieve her clinical specialist certification in neurologic physical therapy and has recently become LSVT BIG certified. She also chairs her hospital’s Parkinson’s disease Joint Commission-certified program.
