Congresswoman Kat Cammack tours hospital, gains insight into post-acute rehabilitation care

July 30, 2026 — U.S. Representative Kat Cammack walked the halls of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Central Florida Wednesday. She visited with hospital leaders and patients to understand the role of inpatient rehabilitation care. After experiencing a family member's stroke recovery, Cammack said she places significant value on therapy services.

“It was an honor to have Rep. Cammack spend time at Encompass Health Central Florida,” said Pamela Reed, hospital CEO. “I believe she understands the importance of the care we provide this community and the significant authorization challenges we sometimes face in approving patients for our services.”

During the tour, Cammack spent time in the hospital's therapy gym learning about the advanced technology and treatment plans available to patients. She also visited with several patients to discuss their rehabilitation journeys.

“It's important for our elected officials to see first-hand how impactful and necessary inpatient rehabilitation is to a patient healing,” Reed said. “We are reducing the burden at our acute care hospitals by providing a place where patients can recover under 24-hour medical care. We are an essential healthcare partner.”

Encompass Health Central Florida serves patients following life-changing events, such as strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries or complex neurological conditions. The hospital's multidisciplinary team provides physical, occupational and speech therapy with nursing and physician care. The hospital holds Joint Commission Disease-Specific Care Certification for Stroke and Hip Fracture Rehabilitation. It opened to patients in 2012.
