Encompass Health hosts grand opening for new inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Westover Hills

Oct. 7, 2026 — Encompass Health, the nation’s largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, hosted a grand opening Wednesday for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Westover Hills. The 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 1910 Rogers Road, is expected to begin serving patients in mid-October.

The hospital will provide essential rehabilitation services to help patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions regain functional ability, independence and quality of life. Patients will receive a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy five days each week, including physical, occupational and speech therapy based on their individual needs, as well as frequent physician visits and 24-hour nursing care. An interdisciplinary team of highly specialized nurses, therapists and physicians will create customized treatment plans to meet each patient's unique recovery goals.

Designed to support patients as they prepare to return to their homes and communities, the hospital features spaces that simulate everyday activities and environments. An activities of daily living suite includes a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and laundry room where patients can practice skills needed for greater independence, while a therapy courtyard provides opportunities to work on mobility in an outdoor setting.

The hospital also includes a spacious therapy gym featuring advanced rehabilitation technologies, private patient rooms and an in-house dialysis suite that allows patients requiring dialysis to receive treatment without leaving the hospital. Additional amenities include an in-house pharmacy, dining room and dayroom areas.

The more than 54,000-square-foot hospital will employ approximately 130 people in its first year. Encompass Health Westover Hills is the company’s 30th location in Texas and second location in the San Antonio area, in addition to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of San Antonio.
