Teen injured in motorcycle crash is learning to walk again

Jordan Parton - WVLT 8

June 15, 2026 — After months of intensive medical treatment and rehabilitation, 16-year-old Jordan Parton is returning home following a serious motorcycle crash in April. Parton sustained significant injuries in the crash, including the amputation of both feet. He underwent nine surgeries before beginning several weeks of inpatient rehabilitation at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. During his stay, he worked closely with a multidisciplinary care team to regain strength and mobility.

“I am feeling pretty good,” Parton told WVLT 8 as he left the hospital. “I am thankful to be alive.”

His discharge from inpatient rehabilitation marks an important milestone in his recovery. At discharge, his local motorcycle community showed up by the dozens to escort him home and show their support. Parton intends to get back on a motorcycle.

“I will still be riding,” Parton said. “This is what I love.”

His mom shared he has been passionate about riding since a young age. Parton, who has been riding dirt bikes since the age of 5, is ready to get back on the motorcycle as soon as he can.

The team at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Hospital supports patients like Parton after life-altering medical events, including recovery from limb loss. Recovery from complex injuries often requires sustained effort, patience and community encouragement. While Parton will continue therapy at home, his community remains focused on his long-term goals – improving mobility, walking independently and returning to the activities he enjoys.
