Sept. 17, 2026 – As demand for inpatient rehabilitation services continues to grow, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Pensacola is expanding to meet the needs of patients and families throughout Northwest Florida and Southern Alabama. Construction is underway on a 10-bed addition that will increase the hospital's capacity from 40 to 50 beds.
The expansion comes as the hospital marks five years of serving the Pensacola area. Since opening in 2021, the hospital has provided specialized inpatient rehabilitation care for patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions. The hospital has treated approximately 5,400 patients since opening.
"This expansion will allow us to care for more patients while maintaining the high-quality, individualized rehabilitation programs our community relies on," said Kayla Feazell, hospital area CEO. "We are proud to celebrate five years of serving patients and families throughout the region and look forward to expanding access to these important services."
Hospital employees, community leaders, healthcare partners and referral sources gathered for an open house commemorating the hospital's fifth anniversary and the start of construction. Attendees toured the hospital, participated in rehabilitation equipment demonstrations and learned more about the hospital's plans to expand access to inpatient rehabilitation services.
"This milestone reflects the dedication of our employees and the trust patients and families have placed in us over the past five years," Feazell said. "We look forward to building on that legacy as we continue to grow."
The expansion is expected to be completed in June 2027. Encompass Health Pensacola holds Joint Commission Disease-Specific Care Certification in Stroke Rehabilitation and Heart Failure.
