Encompass Health Westover Hills names first CEO

June 9, 2026 — Aron Sandquist has been appointed chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Westover Hills. The hospital, under construction at 1910 Rogers Road in San Antonio, Texas, is a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital and is expected to open to patients in October 2026.

“Our goal is to create a collaborative environment that supports both our staff and the community we serve,” Sandquist said. “I am confident our work will elevate the quality of care and make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who rely on us.”

Sandquist brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in hospital management to the CEO role. His strengths include operational management, staff recruitment and leadership development. Previously, Sandquist served as a director of operations, director of therapy and outpatient therapy manager at nationwide health systems.

“Aron is a compassionate leader who will bring expertise and enthusiasm to Encompass Health Westover Hills,” said Craig Funk, president of Encompass Health's Southwest region. “He will have great success building a committed and dedicated team.”

Sandquist holds a master's degree in occupational therapy and a bachelor's degree in health sciences from the College of St. Scholastica. He is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and holds a current occupational therapy license in Texas.

Encompass Health Westover Hills will be the Company's 30th hospital in Texas.
