Encompass Health Memphis leader appointed to national case management board

August 1, 2026 — Tonique Hale, director of case management at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Memphis, has been appointed to The Commission's Board of Directors. The Commission, formerly known as The Commission for Case Manager Certification, is a national organization dedicated to the advancement of client advocacy professionals. Hale's appointment recognizes her commitment to advancing the case management profession and advocating for patients nationwide.

Hale brings nearly three decades of experience with Encompass Health to her role on the board. She joined the Company in 1997 as a physical therapist and has served in a variety of roles throughout her career before becoming director of case management in 2021.

"I enjoy working in partnership with patients and families to make difficult situations easier to navigate," Hale said. "As a case manager, I can provide resources and information that help patients and their families prepare for the next steps in their recovery journey."

Her involvement with The Commission began after earning the Certified Case Manager credential. She volunteered to review and develop examination questions for future certification candidates, gaining opportunities to collaborate with case managers from diverse healthcare settings. Through those experiences, Hale became passionate about strengthening the profession, supporting certification and creating opportunities for case managers to engage more deeply in their field.

"The volunteers I worked with were from various case management backgrounds," she said. "Thought-provoking discussions arose regarding strengthening our field, preparing candidates for the exam and advocating for certification. When the board announced a vacancy, I knew I had found my opportunity."

As a member of The Commission's 2026 Board, Hale looks forward to advocating for case managers, advancing professional development opportunities and supporting initiatives that improve patient outcomes. She also hopes her new role will strengthen industry partnerships and bring valuable resources, insights and best practices back to Encompass Health Memphis.

"I hope to build strong relationships with governing boards and be a voice in places where we may not otherwise be immediately heard," Hale said. "Collaborating with individuals from a variety of settings and experience levels will provide greater access to resources for patients and practitioners, ideas for improved workflow and professional development opportunities."
