Sept. 14, 2026 — Today, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northwest Tucson announced plans to build a new, state-of-the-art hospital. The 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital will be located at 6011 N. La Cholla Blvd. in Tucson, not far from its current location.

“We are building a new hospital to meet the growing needs of rehabilitation care in our area,” said Jeff Christensen, market CEO of Encompass Health Northwest Tucson. “The hospital is designed with patients’ needs in mind, and it will allow us to continue providing the very best rehabilitation care.”

The new hospital will feature all private patient rooms and a variety of innovative technologies to assist patients recovering from strokes, brain and spinal cord injuries, and complex neurological conditions. A full dialysis suite will serve patients who require kidney treatments while they work toward recovery. The hospital will also include bariatric rooms with specialized equipment to accommodate patients’ specific needs.

“Once we open the new hospital, we will immediately see the benefits,” Christensen said. “We are committed to serving patients with the excellent care they deserve. This is a major investment in our community and in the lives of the people who need our care the most.”

Encompass Health Northwest Tucson anticipates opening the new hospital in fall 2027. The hospital has served the Tucson Valley since 1997.
