At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Kingsport, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Kingsport, we serve the Tri-Cities as a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, brain injury and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Troy Clark, FACHE, has served as the CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Kingsport since 2014. In September 2019, he was also named as CEO for The Rehabilitation Hospital of Bristol, a Joint Venture of Ballad Health and Encompass Health. He has served as vice president, chief operating officer and other leadership roles with Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He is a certified healthcare executive and fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Troy received his bachelor's degree in cardiopulmonary studies from the University of South Alabama and master's degrees in business administration and health services administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Director of Therapy Operations
Meg earned her undergraduate degree in exercise science from Appalachian State University, a master’s in physical therapy from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and her clinical doctorate from Shenandoah University in VA. She joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth in February 2018 from an acute care background and specializing in rehabilitating patients with orthopedic, neuro, trauma and developmental impairments. Meg also brings ten years of leadership experience to her position. She is married to Daniel and has three children, Rebekah, Benjamin and Michael.
Plant Operations Director
Stan joined Encompass Health, Formerly HealthSouth in 2003 after a 23-year career in industrial construction. In addition to serving as the hospital's safety officer, his responsibilities also include the environment of care and maintenance. Stan is a certified instructor with the International Association of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. He is a registered healthcare safety officer at a senior level with the International Board of Environmental Health and Safety. He also completed the State of Tennessee Food Service Training Program in 2004 and is an active member of the Sullivan County Emergency Management Program.
Director of Quality/Risk
Britta joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Kingsport, formerly HealthSouth in June of 2015. With more than 26 years in healthcare, her experience includes quality, patient safety, patient satisfaction, IT, regulatory compliance and infection prevention. She has served for many years as an examiner for the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence and as an examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program. Britta received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from East Tennessee State University with a double minor in physics and finance. Britta has been a past board member for United Way of Greater Kingsport Area and currently serves on their quality committee.
Chief Nursing Officer
Debra has served in the healthcare industry for nearly 30 years. She received her nursing degree from Virginia Appalachian Tri-College Nursing Program. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Virginia Intermont and has been employed with Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth since 1999. Debra is also a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN®).
Area Controller
Natalie joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth in 1999. She has more than 14 years of healthcare finance experience and received her bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1992 from East Tennessee State University.
Pharmacy Director
Donna has been a pharmacist for more than 25 years. Graduating pharmacy school from the University of Kentucky in 1986, she has gain experience working in a hospital setting for 15 years and 10 years in a home infusion setting as pharmacy manager/director of pharmacy. She started with Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth in January of 2014.
Director of Case Management
Ken has over 39 years of healthcare experience. He began at Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth in May of 2018 as director of case management. Prior to that position, he was employed at Holston Valley Medical Center for 23 years and worked in the management of a variety of departments. He holds an associate’s degree in nursing from Los Angeles Pierce College and worked as a clinical RN in emergency and radiology departments throughout his career. He earned a BSN degree in 2006 and an MBA with healthcare concentration in 2009, both from King University in Bristol.
