Oct. 30, 2025 – Michelle Martinez has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Albuquerque. The 87-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital is located at 7000 Jefferson Street NE in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
“I’ve been part of the Encompass Health Albuquerque team for eight years, and it is an honor to now step into the CEO role,” said Martinez. “The rehabilitative services we provide our community are vital. I look forward to advancing the quality care this hospital is known for.”
Martinez joined Encompass Health Albuquerque in 2017 as the hospital’s controller. She oversaw all financial aspects including accounts payable, expense management, budget forecasting, internal controls and auditing. She advanced to area controller where she directed financial functions for multiple Encompass Health hospitals. Martinez has also been actively involved with physician recruitment, state legislative efforts and employee engagement.
“Michelle goes above and beyond to maintain strong patient outcomes and achieve operational success,” said Kim Steward, president of Encompass Health’s West region. “She has demonstrated abilities in effectively leading teams and collaborating across stakeholder groups to meet goals. She will have a great impact on our hospital team and patients.”
Martinez holds a Certified Public Accountant license and bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of New Mexico. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, New Mexico Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Encompass Health Albuquerque opened to patients in 1988. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission for Stroke, Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Rehabilitation.
