March 25, 2026 – Amber Kendig has been appointed chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Bluffton, a 38-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital located at 107 Seagrass Station Road.
“During my tenure at Encompass Health, I have witnessed the incredible impact our work has on patients every day,” Kendig said. “I am excited to continue setting the standard for excellent inpatient rehabilitation care here in the Bluffton community.”
Kendig, who began her career as a speech-language pathologist, brings more than 20 years of health care experience to the role. She previously served as associate administrator and interim CEO for the hospital. She joined Encompass Health in 2003 as a staff speech-language pathologist. Kendig has also served as a director of rehabilitation and regional director of operations.
“Amber has led our teams with confidence and expertise during her time as interim CEO,” said Ronnie Wagley, regional president of Encompass Health’s South Atlantic region. “I am confident she will continue to be a valuable asset to the success of Encompass Health Bluffton.”
Kendig earned a master’s degree in business administration from Coastal Carolina University and a master’s degree in speech pathology from the State University of New York at Fredonia. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Kendig is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Encompass Health Bluffton provides essential rehabilitative services that help patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions regain function and independence. Patients receive a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy five days each week, frequent physician visits and 24-hour nursing care.
