Encompass Health Columbia supports heart health with new blood pressure station

A group of Encompass Health Columbia employees pose together, holding American Heart Association cards that read   A woman takes another woman's blood pressure at a health screening table in a hallway. Two others watch attentively, surrounded by informative posters.

Sept. 16, 2025 Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Columbia, in partnership with the American Heart Association (AHA), donated a self-monitoring blood pressure station to the Wiley Kennedy Family Life Center in Columbia. The new station allows residents to freely check their blood pressure and share results with a health care provider.

“This initiative underscores our commitment to a comprehensive approach to stroke care in Columbia – addressing both recovery and prevention,” said Nicole Woods, CEO of Encompass Health Columbia.

The donation aligns with the 2025 High Blood Pressure Clinical Practice Guideline, developed by the AHA and the American College of Cardiology. The updated guidance stresses early detection, lifestyle changes and personalized care, especially in communities with limited access to health resources.

The self-monitoring station is available during regular hours at the Wiley Kennedy Family Life Center. In addition, the AHA and local partners will offer educational materials to support healthy lifestyles.

Encompass Health Columbia is a long-standing partner with the AHA. To read more on the blood pressure station, visit the AHA’s newsroom.
