Encompass Health Amarillo names Tammie Tabor as CEO

July 2, 2025 – Tammie Tabor has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Amarillo. The hospital, under construction at 7950 Wallace Blvd. in Amarillo, Texas, is a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital expected to open to patients in November.

“It is an honor to join the Encompass Health team,” said Tabor. “As a long-time resident of Amarillo, I am dedicated to building a strong team that provides our community with high-quality patient care.”

Tabor, a registered nurse by background, has built a 20-year health care career in Amarillo. Her experience in acute and rehabilitation care settings spans a variety of roles, including serving as a nurse manager, chief nursing officer, chief operating officer and CEO. As CEO, Tabor achieved significant financial and patient satisfaction success.

“Tammie is a driven health care executive with proven abilities to motivate and lead teams,” said Craig Funk, president of Encompass Health’s Southwest region. “She will be an exemplary leader for our hospital and the patients we serve.”

Tabor holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Walden University. She serves on the Amarillo College Nursing Advisory Council and Amarillo College Patient Care Program Advisory Council. Additionally, she is a member of the Texas Panhandle Coalition of Nursing and Association of Rehabilitation Nursing.

Encompass Health plans to open a total of eight inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, including a satellite location, in 2025. Encompass Health Amarillo will be Encompass Health’s 29th hospital in Texas.
