Sept. 2, 2026 – Encompass Health, the nation’s largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, hosted a grand opening Wednesday for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Lower Providence. The 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 2660 Audubon Road, is expected to begin serving patients in September.
The hospital will provide essential rehabilitative services that help patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions regain function and independence. Patients will receive a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy five days each week, frequent physician visits and 24-hour nursing care.
“There is a great need for our level of rehabilitative care in Lower Providence,” said Dianne Charsha, hospital CEO. “I know our dedicated team of healthcare professionals will have an immediate impact on patients, helping them return to what matters most.”
Hospital amenities include private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym featuring advanced rehabilitation technologies, an activities of daily living suite, in-house dialysis suite, therapy courtyard, dining room, in-house pharmacy and dayroom areas. An interdisciplinary team of highly specialized nurses, therapists and physicians will provide physical, occupational and speech therapies to restore functional ability and quality of life.
The more than 54,000-square-foot hospital will employ approximately 105 full-time people in the first year. Encompass Health Lower Providence is the Company’s 11th location in Pennsylvania.
