Sept. 22, 2025 – In honor of National Rehabilitation Awareness Week (NRAW), Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Jacksonville hosted “Under the Stars,” inviting the community to gather in celebration of their employees’ commitment to health and healing. The hospital offered an outdoor movie viewing on the hospital’s lawn with snacks, drinks and face painting. The event recognized the “star” patients who have recovered from life-changing illnesses and injuries and the “star” rehabilitative clinicians and professionals who serve the Jacksonville, Florida community every day.
“We take pride in the impact we make together,” said Paula Carlisle, chief executive officer at Encompass Health Jacksonville. “We are a valuable resource to the community and a place people turn during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Hosting this event and welcoming the community is a great way for us to pause and reflect on our purpose.”
The event also marked Encompass Health Jacksonville’s official recognition as a Blue Zones Approved Worksite, which acknowledges the hospital’s commitment to a healthier workplace for its employees. Blue Zones leaders were onsite for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“We care about the health of our patients, and we want to see them return to what matters most,” said Carlisle. “We also care about our employees, and this designation shows our commitment to their well-being, too.”
NRAW is celebrated every September. Encompass Health Jacksonville is a post-acute rehabilitation hospital serving patients who are recovering from a stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury or other complex illness.
