Aug. 26, 2025 – In just three months as chief executive officer at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Reading, Robert Wiegand has been named to The Power List 2025 by Lehigh Valley Business. The award recognizes area leaders who are making strong impacts for their organizations and in the community.
“It’s truly an honor to be named to the Lehigh Valley Business Power List, especially having only started in this role in May,” said Wiegand. “This recognition is less about me and more about the incredible team I have the privilege to lead at Encompass Health Reading.”
In Wiegand’s short time at the rehabilitation hospital, he has experienced the dedication, compassion and talent of the hospital staff and attributes the recognition to his team.
“This honor reflects the impact we’re making together for our patients, their families and our community,” said Wiegand. “I am both humbled and energized by this recognition.”
Wiegand says he is motivated to continue building on Encompass Health Reading’s strong foundation. One of Wiegand’s top goals in his tenure is to modernize the hospital to provide the best possible environment for care and recovery.
“Over time, we want to move toward privatization of each patient room,” said Wiegand. “We currently have multiple private rooms and some shared ones, too. While many patients enjoy the companionship and support that comes from shared rooms, we also recognize the value of added privacy, comfort and convenience.”
Striking the right renovation balance as the hospital grows and investing in the future will be important focuses for Wiegand. For now, though, he remains focused on his top priority – the hospital’s patients.
“My favorite part of being CEO is rounding on our patients, their families and our staff,” said Wiegand. “Those moments remind me why we do what we do – seeing the progress our patients make, hearing directly from families about their experiences and recognizing the dedication of our staff. It keeps me grounded, connected and inspired every day.”
