Aug. 11, 2025 – South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital has expanded to meet the rehabilitation needs of the Lubbock community. The hospital recently opened 26 new patient rooms, bringing the hospital total number of rooms to 92.
“South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital has had the great privilege of caring for patients over the last six years,” said Beth Tucker, chief executive officer of South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital. “By expanding our capacity, we are now able to help more patients get the quality rehabilitation care that they need.”
South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital opened to patients six years ago and quickly experienced the growing need for post-acute rehabilitation care. The hospital serves patients following a life-changing illness or injury. With 24-hour nursing care, patients who are recovering from stroke, brain injury, limb loss, hip fracture or other complex neurological conditions can focus on their individual goals with the hospital’s highly trained occupational, physical and speech therapists.
“There is often a waitlist of patients who are seeking our care,” said Tucker. “This room expansion will ease that burden and offer more people the ability to recover with us so that they can get back to the things that they enjoy and the people that they love.”
The hospital expansion also included a new dayroom, which will be used for group therapies and dining space for families and friends to visit.
South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital holds The Joint Commission Certification in Stroke Rehabilitation.
