Feb. 2, 2026 — If you ask Kristen Turner about the strong legacy of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Mechanicsburg, she is quick to tell you that it’s more than just a building.
“Our team is the heart of this hospital,” said Turner, CEO of Encompass Health Mechanicsburg. “Yes, this building has been here for a very long time. However, it’s our team that has built this legacy of strong, advanced rehabilitative care. We walk in every day united in one purpose: to help patients return to what matters most.”
As the hospital celebrates 32 years of serving patients, Turner hopes it’s the passion and expertise of Encompass Health Mechanicsburg’s team that stands out the most.
“Inpatient rehabilitation is life changing for our patients,” Turner said. “Our team members are constantly going above and beyond to provide high-quality care, and as a result, we see strong patient outcomes every day.”
The hospital hosted an anniversary celebration with approximately 40 attendees, including hospital staff, health care providers and community partners. Seeing former patients at the event made Turner the proudest.
“We rarely see former patients after they leave,” Turner said. “Seeing them return and attend this event was heartfelt and emotional. It reinforces why we do this job and energizes me to continue educating our community about the benefit of our services.”
In the years to come, the hospital looks forward to supporting the growing community with the rehabilitative care it needs and hiring additional staff. Currently, Encompass Health Mechanicsburg is the only freestanding, inpatient rehabilitation facility in Mechanicsburg.
