Sept. 15, 2026 – Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Bakersfield recently opened a new dialysis suite, expanding the hospital's ability to care for rehabilitation patients who require ongoing dialysis treatments during their recovery.
The new suite features four dedicated dialysis treatment chairs, including one in a private room designed for patients requiring isolation. The space also includes supporting infrastructure that enables treatments to be delivered in a comfortable and efficient environment.
"The dialysis suite is a significant enhancement to our hospital because it expands our capacity to care for patients who need both intensive rehabilitation and ongoing dialysis treatments," said Amir Meshreky, hospital CEO. "This investment allows us to serve more patients while providing a convenient, patient-centered care experience that supports their recovery."
Providing dialysis onsite allows patients to receive treatment without leaving the rehabilitation hospital, reducing the need for travel to outside facilities. Receiving dialysis in the same setting where they are recovering helps patients stay engaged in their rehabilitation program while benefiting from coordinated, interdisciplinary care.
In addition to the dialysis suite, the renovation project included several hospital enhancements focused on improving patient care, safety and operational efficiency. The updates are designed to support the hospital's long-term strategy of meeting the evolving healthcare needs of the community while enhancing the experience for patients, families and staff.
