Alex Soh Story (WAFF- 48 News)

Sept. 19, 2025 – Alex Soh is a beloved member of the Madison community. He has been a customer-favorite at a local Kroger grocery store for 15 years – working as a courtesy clerk and making many friends along the way. On Sept. 2, Soh underwent a 17-hour surgery at Vanderbilt to remove a brain tumor.

Prior to the surgery, Soh’s mom, Nicole, shared an update on social media.

“Within minutes, comments and likes started coming in,” shared Nicole with WAFF-48 news. “People just talking about how much they love seeing Alex, how he is always smiling, how he is always so kind to their kids.”

Soh returned to Madison where he made a remarkable recovery at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama. After his last therapy session, he was surprised by family, friends, Kroger co-workers and his care providers.

“One of the most powerful things I’ve ever seen in my life to have your community come up and stand behind you,” said Nicole. “The outpouring of love… the word that comes to mind is magical.”

Soh’s goal is to return to Kroger and its customers as soon as possible.
