Aug. 6, 2026 – Ascension St. John Rehabilitation Hospital of Owasso, an affiliate of Encompass Health, will soon be able to serve more patients following a life-changing injury or illness. The inpatient rehabilitation hospital broke ground on a 20-bed expansion. The new private patient rooms will meet the growing rehabilitation needs in Owasso and the greater Tulsa area.
“It’s important that patients are given the opportunity for strong recoveries — a chance to walk or talk again after a stroke or how to accomplish daily activities after an amputation,” said Katherine Ramirez, CEO of Ascension St. John Rehabilitation Hospital of Owasso. “Having access to quality rehabilitation care matters to our community, and now, more people will receive the important healthcare they need.”
With 24-hour nursing care, patients who are recovering from stroke, brain injury, limb loss, hip fracture or other complex neurological conditions can focus on their individual goals with the hospital’s highly trained occupational, physical and speech therapists. Therapists also incorporate innovative technologies to meet patient’s unique needs.
“Expanding the bed capacity at Ascension St. John Rehabilitation Hospital of Owasso is a critical investment that ensures our patients have timely access to the intensive therapy they need for their recovery journey,” said Mark Clay, president of Ascension St. John Owasso. “By increasing these services, we are reinforcing our commitment to keeping specialized, high-quality rehabilitation care close to home.”
The new unit is expected to open in January 2027 and will bring the hospital’s total bed count to 60. Ascension St. John Rehabilitation Hospital of Owasso opened to patients in March 2023. The hospital is a joint venture partnership between Ascension and Encompass Health.
