Nov. 4, 2026 – The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis - West County is expanding to increase access to inpatient rehabilitation services for patients across the region. Located at 998 Woods Mill Road in West County, the hospital recently broke ground on a 10-bed expansion in late October. Construction is expected to be completed in summer 2027. The 4,300-square-foot project will increase the hospital's capacity from 40 to 50 beds.

The expanded capacity will improve access to specialized inpatient rehabilitation care for patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and other complex medical conditions. Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team focused on helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life.

"In our two years of serving St. Louis County, we have seen a growing demand for our services," said Shivani Bass, hospital CEO. "By increasing our capacity, we'll be able to help more patients access specialized rehabilitation care closer to home."

The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis - West County opened in 2024 and is a joint venture between Encompass Health and BJC HealthCare.
