June 10, 2026 — Three employees from Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of San Juan were recognized by the Puerto Rico Hospital Association for their contributions to patient care, administration and community outreach.

María Reyes, a registered nurse who has been with the hospital for 10 years, received the Patient Impact Award. Colleagues say she is known for her empathy, compassion and dedication to patient care as she supports individuals throughout their inpatient rehabilitation journeys.

“María's commitment to patients extends beyond her nursing responsibilities,” said Daniel Del Castillo, Market CEO at Encompass Health San Juan. “Her sensitivity and dedication make her an invaluable source of support for our patients and their families.”

Amy Rivera, a physical therapy assistant with three years of service at the hospital, earned the Administrative Impact Award. Rivera has developed several initiatives aimed at improving the patient experience, including the “Encompass Health Sunday Spa.” This program offers grooming services and uplifting activities designed to promote well-being and a positive mindset. She has also led internal team-building efforts, such as the “Food Challenge,” which encourages employees to share homemade dishes, participate in tastings and recognize outstanding contributions.

“Amy's work has strengthened camaraderie among our staff and contributed positively to our workplace environment,” Del Castillo said. “These recognitions highlight our hospital's commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care and serving our community. They reflect our focus on supporting patients, strengthening our team and maintaining excellence in rehabilitation services.”

Yairamir Colón, a rehabilitation liaison who has worked at Encompass Health San Juan for 26 years, received the Community Impact Award. In her role, she educates physicians and other healthcare professionals about the benefits of physical rehabilitation and helps coordinate care with acute care hospitals, insurance providers, patients and their families to improve access to services.

“Yairamir demonstrates a genuine commitment to the well-being of our patients and the community,” Del Castillo said. “Her dedication reflects a positive impact that extends well beyond her role.”
