Dec. 10, 2025 – Paul Barkley has been appointed chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Savannah. The 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital is located at 6510 Seawright Drive in Savannah, Georgia.
“I am honored to serve as Encompass Health Savannah’s next CEO,” said Barkley. “This hospital team is a dedicated and compassionate group of health care professionals who are committed to patients. I know we will continue advancing the expert rehabilitative care we provide our patients every day.”
Beginning his health care career in Macon, Georgia, Barkley has experience in acute care, skilled nursing, home health and rehabilitation care settings. He has held leadership roles as a clinical operations director, chief operating officer and CEO. Prior to Encompass Health Savannah, he was CEO for a home health care provider serving adults and seniors with developmental disabilities. Barkley excels in developing a strong company culture, expanding service coverage and improving patient satisfaction and access to care.
“Paul is a seasoned health care executive with a robust understanding of hospital operations, patient experience and regulatory compliance,” said Ronnie Wagley, president of Encompass Health’s South Atlantic region. “He is the right person to lead our hospital team and continue to grow our high-quality rehabilitative services in Savannah.”
Barkley earned a Master of Business Administration from Mercer University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Medical College of Georgia and a second bachelor’s degree in biology from Georgia Southern University. He served as a staff sergeant for eight years with the Georgia Air National Guard and is a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Encompass Health Savannah opened to patients in 2015. The hospital holds The Joint Commission Disease-Specific Care Certification for Stroke and Hip Fracture Rehabilitation.
