Encompass Health Shelby County names CEO

June 23, 2026 — Heather Hyche has been appointed chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Shelby County. The hospital, located at 900 Oak Mountain Commons Lane in Pelham, Alabama, is a 34-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital.

“I am excited to rejoin the Encompass Health team,” Hyche said. “Encompass Health Shelby County has been a leader in the community providing excellent patient care and setting the standard for strong inpatient rehabilitation care. I am looking forward to supporting the excellent team at the hospital.”

Hyche brings more than 25 years of healthcare experience to the CEO role. She has previously served as a director of rehabilitation services and a director of case management. Through her leadership roles, she has had success directing and developing multidisciplinary teams. Hyche is committed to strong communication and collaboration that drives patient-centered care.

“Heather is an experienced healthcare leader with inpatient rehabilitation expertise,” said Brad Kennedy, president of Encompass Health’s South Central region. “Encompass Health Shelby County has grown to be a valuable pillar of the community. I am confident Heather will support and lead the team well.”

Hyche earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Birmingham-Southern College and a master's degree in rehabilitation psychology and counseling from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also earned a master's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Hyche is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a board-certified case manager.
