Shivani Bass named to 2026 Most Influential Business Women list

Aug. 15, 2026 – Shivani Bass, CEO of The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis – West County, was honored as one of the St. Louis Business Journal's 2026 Most Influential Business Women during an awards event Aug. 13. The annual recognition celebrates women making an impact at their organizations and throughout the St. Louis community.

Bass was among 25 women recognized this year spanning industries including healthcare, finance, education and construction.

“I am honored to be recognized alongside such an accomplished group of women leaders making a difference in the St. Louis community,” Bass said. "This award reflects the dedication of our entire team, whose commitment to serving patients strengthens the communities we serve every day.”

Bass began her career with Encompass Health as a physical therapist and has advanced through a variety of clinical and leadership roles during her 19-year tenure with the Company. Since first becoming a hospital CEO in 2021, she has helped expand access to inpatient rehabilitation services across the St. Louis area. She led the planning, staffing and operational launch of The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis – West County, which opened in 2024 and reached full capacity within nine months. She also previously oversaw an expansion of The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis – St. Peters and helped advance clinical excellence through disease-specific certifications and accreditations.

Bass also serves as an Encompass Health Leadership Coach and preceptor, mentoring leaders across the national organization and helping develop the Company's next generation of leaders.

Beyond her corporate and hospital leadership, Bass contributes to the St. Louis community through education and mentorship. She is passionate about improving access to care pathways, resources for patients and families and supporting her team’s growth and development.

Through her leadership, Bass remains focused on expanding access to high-quality rehabilitation care, developing future healthcare leaders and making a positive impact throughout the St. Louis community.
