2025 OEAA: Jerry Garzaro, West Region

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Bakersfield is proud to honor Jerry Garzaro, physical therapist assistant, senior, as the West region recipient of Encompass Health’s 2025 Outstanding Employee Achievement Award (OEAA). The OEAA program honors exceptional employees across Encompass Health’s eight operating regions who exemplify compassion, leadership and a deep commitment to patient-centered care.

Garzaro has dedicated 25 years to serving patients and staff at Encompass Health Bakersfield. His passion for service began during high school volunteering and grew after his mother suffered multiple strokes and neurological illness. Today, as a STOP 2 program champion, stroke team champion and stroke support group facilitator, he provides lasting hope and guidance. A leader in his church and devoted family man, Garzaro lives by the belief that happiness is found in serving others.

He accepted his award during a celebratory gala May 6 at the Country Club of Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama — home to Encompass Health’s Home Office — with attendees including the Company’s board of directors, executive and regional leaders, region recipients and their guests.

Jerry Garzaro stands at an OEAA awards presentation, holding a recognition plaque alongside a colleague, representing leadership and excellence in rehabilitation health care achievement and service.

Garzaro receives the OEAA award from Encompass Health Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Pat Tuer.
