At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Petersburg, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Petersburg and serving the greater Richmond area, we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, brain injury, cardio-pulmonary conditions and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Scott has more than 25 years of rehabilitation, orthopedic, and health care management experience. He previously served as the associate administrator for Encompass Health’s hospital in Kingsport, Tennessee. Scott has a passion for leading dynamic teams in an effort to improve the health care experience for patients and families. He has a master’s degree in physical therapy from California State University, Fresno and a master’s degree in health care administration from UNC Chapel Hill.
Born and raised in Southern California, Martin Yee, M.D. is a double graduate from the University of Southern California, holding a bachelor’s degree in biology and a medical doctorate degree from USC’s Keck School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at the University of California, Irvine with an emphasis in internal medicine, spinal cord injury and brain. He has been board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation since the completion of his residency in 1997. He worked as chief of staff/medical director at Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in Reno/Tahoe, Nevada, and served as medical director at Encompass Health East Valley, before serving as medical director for acute inpatient rehabilitation units at both Northwest Medical Center and Oro Valley Hospital in Tucson, Ariz. Dr. Yee moved to Richmond, Virginia in 2018 to become the medical director at Encompass Health Petersburg. In his spare time, Dr. Yee enjoys cooking, traveling, hiking, biking, and spending time with his wife and two sons.

Director of Pharmacy
With eight years of experience as an acute care and rehabilitation pharmacy practice experience, Dickson was promoted to director of pharmacy in December 2018. He has a passion for infectious disease pharmacy and medication safety. Dickson holds a bachelor’s degree in natural resource management from the University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, and obtained pre-professional pharmacy education from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia from 2005 to 2007. Dickson graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy in Erie, Pennsylvania, with a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
Director of Human Resources
With the hospital since the opening in June 2006, Lisa serves as the human resources director. Her background in human resources includes extensive experience in recruiting, employee relations, employee engagement, training and development. She is nationally certified as both a senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), and is Certified in Healthcare Human Resources (CHHR). Lisa is a member of the national and state SHRM as well as the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA) of the American Hospital Association, and the Virginia Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (VaSHHRA). A lifelong area resident, Lisa also volunteers as a World Vision Child Ambassador.
Case Management Director II
Leslie joined Encompass Health Petersburg in January 2020 and brings more than 20 years of nursing experience to her role as a case management director. During her nursing career, she worked in the areas of home health, hospice and transplant. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology/biology from Ferrum College and an associate degree in nursing from J.S. Reynolds. She prides herself in making sure her patients have the care and tools they need to navigate their healthcare journey.
Business Development Director
Phonya brings more than 15 years of sales and marketing expertise to Encompass Health. A Virginia native, she graduated from Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. Phonya received her master’s degree in healthcare administration from Walden University.
Facilities Management Director
Tony joined Encompass Health Petersburg in November 2019 with more than 20 years of facilities management experience in the healthcare environment. He holds a Six Sigma Green Belt and is a Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager. Tony has a bachelor’s degree in hospitality administration from Florida State University and a master’s degree of business administration in information technology from University of Phoenix.
Director of Therapy Operations
Kristin’s career as a physical therapist has been focused in the inpatient rehabilitation setting and she has been with Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, since 2008. She began her career as a physical therapist at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Rock Hill, SC and joined the Encompass Health Petersburg team as lead physical therapist in 2013. Kristin was then promoted to director of therapy operations in 2014. She received her undergraduate degree and a Master of Science in exercise sports science in 2005 and her doctorate in physical therapy in 2008 from Elon University. Kristin is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, as well as, the Virginia Physical Therapy Association and she resides in Richmond, VA.
Ann joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in May 2007 as the assistant controller at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Virginia in Richmond and was promoted to controller at Petersburg in 2008. She came to Encompass Health with more than 20 years of accounting and finance experience, including healthcare, service and public accounting. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Miami University. Ann is married, has two children and resides in Richmond.
Chief Nursing Officer
With over 20 years of experience in healthcare, Marsha began her career with Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in June 2009 at Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital in Birmingham, AL. Serving as charge nurse and supervisor she was then promoted to nurse manager in 2011. Marsha graduated from Missouri Southern State University with her ADN and earned her BSN from American Sentinel University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She also holds certification as a registered rehabilitation nurse. Marsha joined the team at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Petersburg as chief nursing officer in October 2020.
