At Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Wichita, we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, hip fracture, amputation and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Tom graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1994 with a master's degree in physical therapy, after earning his bachelor of science from Kansas State University. He has held a variety of healthcare roles which have included that of a clinical analyst, director of quality and director of imaging and rehabilitation services. Tom joined Encompass Health in September 2019 as the CEO.
Dr. Cook is a board-certified PM&R physician providing patient care services at Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital. He is originally from Omaha Nebraska, and enjoys time with his family and friends. His objective is to support our patients medical and rehabilitation progress for a safe and enjoyable discharge home.

Chief Nursing Officer
Director of Plant Operations
Dale joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital in January 2010. He has worked in maintenance and plant operations for more than 23 years. Prior to working at HealthSouth, he has been employed by Via Christi, nursing homes, long term acute care hospitals, HCA Wesley, and consulted on new ventures into healthcare. Dale’s goal is to provide a safe, secure and comfortable environment for patients and staff so that they can be able to perform optimally. While striving for this goal, he is constantly seeking ways to conserve expenses and position the hospital to be ready to meet the needs of our community. Dale has a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix.
Certified Case Management Director
Regina joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital in 2009. She received her undergraduate degree in social work from the University of Kansas in 2001 and her graduate degree in social work from Wichita State University in 2007. She is a licensed master's social worker, certified case manager, and a certified advanced social work case manager through the National Association of Social Workers. Regina has over 19 years’ experience in the acute and post-acute healthcare setting. She has a passion for cultivating an environment of quality care, patient advocacy, and assisting individuals in their healthcare journey. Regina also enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Health Information Supervisor and HIPAA Officer
Director of Pharmacy
Allison is board certified as a pharmacotherapy specialist. She joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital, an Affiliate of Encompass Health, in 2019 as the Director of Pharmacy. Upon graduating from the University of Kansas school of pharmacy, Allison completed a pharmacy residency with the Veterans Administration where she then worked as a clinical pharmacist with a scope of practice before transitioning to the manager of pharmacy operations. She is actively involved in community outreach through the Guadalupe Clinic in Wichita and student pharmacist development with the University of Kansas school of pharmacy at the Wichita campus.
Director of Quality and Risk Management
JoAnn Pereira joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital in 2014 with 8 years of experience in healthcare working in a variety of roles. She started with Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital as a certified nursing assistant (CNA), and then worked as a registered nurse and nurse supervisor. She became the director of quality and risk management in 2017. She graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and Wichita State University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Her goal is to provide patients with the highest level of quality care so that they can return home to their family and continue to live full and active lives.
Human Resources Director
Betty joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital in September 2007. She has been a HR professional since 2003 with experience in all areas of the human resources function including recruitment and retention, staff development, employee engagement, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, employment law and compliance and workplace safety. Betty’s goal is to ensure employee’s needs are met in a timely and effective manner as well as ensuring Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital recruits and retains top notch employees to meet the needs of our patients. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in human resource management. She also has her certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and SHRM-CP.
Associate Medical Director
Dr. Veenis has been associate medical director and medical director of the brain injury unit at Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital since July 1993. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1989. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh in June 1993. He has special interests in neurorehabilitation and NCS/EMG. Dr. Veenis was awarded Wichita Business Journal Best Doctors for 2010.
