Sept. 17, 2026 – Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Albuquerque hosted state and federal legislators for a tour highlighting inpatient rehabilitation services during National Rehabilitation Awareness Week. State Rep. Kathleen Cates and Ebony Baty-Rencher, field representative for U.S. Rep. Melanie Stansbury, toured the hospital and met with leaders of the hospital's leadership team.
The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the role of inpatient rehabilitation and give lawmakers a firsthand look at the specialized care and technology available to patients recovering from serious illnesses and injuries.
“We were honored to welcome Rep. Kathleen Cates and Ebony Baty-Rencher, field representative for U.S. Rep. Melanie Stansbury, to our hospital,” said Michelle Martinez, hospital CEO. “Their visit gave us an opportunity to share how inpatient rehabilitation helps patients regain independence and return home to their loved ones.”
During the tour, the lawmakers learned about advanced therapy technologies available at Encompass Health Albuquerque, viewed equipment demonstrations, toured patient rooms and spoke with clinicians about the care they provide.
“Building relationships with our state and federal legislators is important,” Martinez said. “By seeing our hospital and speaking with our staff, they gain a better understanding of the specialized care our patients need.”
