Nov. 6, 2025 - Today, Encompass Health, the nation’s largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, along with BSA Health System, the largest health care employer in the Texas Panhandle region, hosted a grand opening for Rehabilitation Hospital of Amarillo, a joint venture of BSA Health System and Encompass Health. The 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 7950 Wallace Boulevard, is expected to begin serving patients in November.
The hospital will provide essential rehabilitative services that help patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions regain function and independence. Patients will receive a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy for five days each week, frequent physician visits and 24-hour nursing care.

Hospital amenities include all private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym featuring advanced rehabilitation technologies, an activities of daily living suite, in-house dialysis suite, therapy courtyard, dining room, in-house pharmacy and dayroom areas. An interdisciplinary team of highly specialized nurses, therapists and physicians will provide physical, occupational and speech therapies to restore functional ability and quality of life.

The more than 54,000-square-foot hospital is Encompass Health’s 29th location in the state of Texas. It will employ 108 full-time employees within the first year of opening and 150 full-time employees by the fifth year.
