Shannon Cortez has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Midland Odessa
MIDLAND, Texas, Feb. 3, 2025 - Shannon Cortez has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Midland Odessa. The 106-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital is located at 1800 Heritage Blvd. in Midland, Texas. The hospital holds The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Certification in Stroke, Amputee and Hip Fracture Rehabilitation.

As a licensed occupational therapist, Cortez brings 14 years of clinical and executive experience to Encompass Health. He previously worked for HCA Houston Healthcare as director of operations. In this role, he was responsible for operational planning, quality analysis and oversight, financial management and marketing of 10 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals. Cortez also has extensive military and civilian leadership training and experience through his service with the Texas State Guard and U.S. Marine Corps.

Cortez holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Houston, a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from the University of Texas at Tyler. He is a member of the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association and earned the association’s Medical Rehabilitation Management Certification.
