June 12, 2026 — New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland has a new look. The hospital unveiled a new logo Friday, which more clearly features the long-standing joint venture partnership between Encompass Health and MaineHealth.
“Our patients and community will certainly notice the updated logo, but we are still the same excellent inpatient rehabilitation hospital we’ve always been,” said Michelle Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the hospital. “The sign on the outside may have changed, but the high-quality, advanced rehabilitative care remains the same inside.”
New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland has been serving patients since October 1986, providing essential rehabilitation services that help individuals recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions regain functional ability, independence and quality of life. Patients receive a minimum of three hours of intensive physical, occupational and/or speech therapy five days each week, as well as frequent physician visits and 24-hour nursing care. An interdisciplinary team of highly specialized nurses, therapists and physicians create customized treatment plans to meet each patient's unique recovery goals.
“We are always moving forward and advancing the care we provide,” Fitzgerald said. “The new logo reflects our continued commitment to strong post-acute care.”
Encompass Health and MaineHealth have been joint venture partners since 1997. The 100-bed hospital holds Joint Commission Disease-Specific Care Certifications for Stroke, Amputee, Brain Injury and Hip Fracture Rehabilitation.
