Aug. 19, 2026Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Kentucky participated in Northern Kentucky Community Day, hosted by Local 12. The annual event brought hundreds of community members together to learn about health and wellness topics, connect with local organizations and hear from experts through a series of informational panels.

As a sponsor and participant, Encompass Health Northern Kentucky shared information about its inpatient rehabilitation services and connected attendees with resources to support their health and recovery journeys.

Therapists and a nurse liaison from the hospital also hosted a panel discussion focused on inpatient rehabilitation and stroke recovery. Joining the discussion was former Encompass Health patient and former Cincinnati Bengals running back James Brooks, who shared his personal experience with stroke rehabilitation.

“Watching James reunite with his therapy team before the panel was the highlight of my day,” said Anna Hennekes, business development director at Encompass Health Northern Kentucky. “There were lots of hugs and smiles as they chatted about his progress.”

This marked the third consecutive year Encompass Health Northern Kentucky has participated in Community Day, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to educating the public about rehabilitation services and improving access to healthcare resources.

“We find so much value in participating in Community Day,” Hennekes said. “Events like this give us an opportunity to connect directly with members of our community, share information about the life-changing impact of rehabilitation and help people better understand the local resources available to them when they need specialized care.”
