Nov. 21, 2025 – Encompass Health Corp., the nation’s largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, has named Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of San Juan as its 2025 Hospital of the Year. The 35-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at University District Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico, provides essential rehabilitation services that help patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and cmplex orthopedic conditions regain functional ability, independence and quality of life.

Encompass Health’s Hospital of the Year award considers outstanding performance in multiple categories, including clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, employee turnover and engagement, and patient safety measures. Encompass Health San Juan excelled in all categories in the past year, including achieving an impressive net promoter score of 87.3 — an indicator of patient satisfaction — and an outstanding employee engagement score of 88.4%.

Encompass Health San Juan opened to patients in 1999. Patients receive a minimum of three hours of intensive physical, occupational and/or speech therapy five days each week, as well as frequent physician visits and 24-hour nursing care. An interdisciplinary team of highly specialized nurses, therapists and physicians create customized treatment plans to meet each patient’s unique recovery goals.
