At Rehabilitation Hospital of Bristol, a joint venture of Ballad Health and Encompass Health, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Bristol and serving the Tri-Cities area, we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, brain injury and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Troy Clark, FACHE, has served as the CEO of Rehabilitation Hospital of Kingsport, a joint venture of Ballad Health and Encompass Health since 2014. In September 2019, he was also named as CEO for The Rehabilitation Hospital of Bristol, a Joint Venture of Ballad Health and Encompass Health. He has served as vice president, chief operating officer and other leadership roles with Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He is a certified healthcare executive and fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Troy received his bachelor's degree in cardiopulmonary studies from the University of South Alabama and master's degrees in business administration and health services administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Director of Case Management
Gabbi joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in 2017 as part of the case management team and promoted to director of case management later that year. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in health and human performance and received her certification for case management through the CCMC. She is a member of the Academy of Certified Case Managers and has worked in healthcare for more than 15 years.
Human Resources Director
Christy received a degree in business administration with a concentration in human resources from East Tennessee State University in 2000. She has worked in healthcare since graduating. Christy has been with Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, since 2006, became the director of human resources in December 2014 and received her Professional in Human Resources Certification in May of 2017.
Director of Therapy Operations/Director of Quality and Risk
Ashley joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, as a speech-language pathologist in 2009 and has served as a department manager since 2010. She holds a master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Radford University. In addition, she holds a master’s of business administration with a healthcare endorsement from King College. Ashley is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM). She currently serves as director of therapy operations, quality, and risk management.
Plant Operations Director
Stan joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in 2003 after a 23-year career in industrial construction. In addition to serving as the hospital's safety officer, his responsibilities also include the environment of care and maintenance. Stan is a certified instructor with the International Association of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. He is a registered healthcare safety officer at a senior level with the International Board of Environmental Health and Safety. He also completed the State of Tennessee Food Service Training Program in 2004 and is an active member of the Sullivan County Emergency Management Program.
Chief Nursing Officer
Katrina started her career in healthcare in 2007. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from East Tennessee State University in 2008. She joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in 2015, and assumed her current role of chief nursing officer in 2016. She is a current member of the Virginia Organization of Nurse Executives & Leaders as well as the Tennessee Organization of Nurse Executives.
Chief Financial Officer
Natalie joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in 1999. She has more than 14 years of healthcare finance experience and received her bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1992 from East Tennessee State University.
Pharmacy Director
Donna has been a pharmacist for more than 25 years. Graduating pharmacy school from the University of Kentucky in 1986, she has gain experience working in a hospital setting for 15 years and 10 years in a home infusion setting as pharmacy manager/director of pharmacy. She started with Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in January of 2014.
