Neurological physical therapy residency
Our physical therapy residency is a 14-month post-professional opportunity that offers clinical education and mentoring. Open to APTA members, participants receive experience in an inpatient setting and can also achieve board certification as a neurological clinical specialist more quickly.
Encompass Health Middelton's physical therapy residency program is accredited by he American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE), the APTA-recognized agency for the accreditation of physical therapist residency and fellowship education programs.

Opportunities
- Clinical practice in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital
- Didactic education from Neuroconsortium and Medbridge and weekly mentoring from a neuro PT
- Interprofessional opportunities with a hospital and the community
Goals
- Develop high-quality, evidence-based physical therapy practice or consultation skills for the neurologic patients
- Educate patients and caregivers in the areas of wellness, prevention and health promotion
- Develop clinical reasoning skills and critical inquiry to assess research and educate staff
- Serve as an advocate within the physical therapy profession

- Doctorate in physical therapy
- Eligibility for licensure in Delaware
- Experience with neurologic patient populations
